MARYLAND MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES FOR CHILDREN & ADOLESCENTS
Treatment for Substance-Use Disorders & Other Behavioral Health Concerns
Walden offers treatment services for children and adolescents suffering from both mental health and substance use disorders.
We use Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administrative (SAMHSA) approved evidence-based practices such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Developmental Assets, Motivational Interviewing, and Adolescent Community Reinforcement Approach (A-CRA). We provide a comprehensive assessment to determine the best treatment plan for the individual/family.
THE COVE
The Cove/DFZ (Drug-Free Zone), one of only eight programs of its kind in the state of Maryland, is part of what makes Walden’s continuum of care so unique. A safe, sober and fun place to be for 12-17-year-olds who have personal or family-related concerns related to substance misuse, The Cove operates a year-round schedule of mentoring, life skill, academic, support group, and recreational activities.
The Cove team also helps adolescents in need of behavioral health treatment services locate help and conducts Pop Up education and outreach in the community at local schools, afterschool programs, libraries, and other locations where teens and families gather.
